A$AP Rocky was arrested at LAX after suspected involvement with shooting

He has since been bailed out of jail on a $550,000 bond

Rapper A$AP Rocky has been detained in connection with a shooting that occurred in November.

On his way back from a vacation with his girlfriend, Rihanna, the rapper was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday.

The musician, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was being investigated by police for his possible participation in a non-fatal gunshot in Hollywood last year.

The arrest was made in connection with an "argument between two acquaintances" that ended in gunshots being fired, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The victim later informed authorities that Mayers approached him on the street with a firearm while walking with two other people. According to police reports acquired by NBC News, they said Mayers shot him three to four times and that one of the rounds grazed his left hand.

The victim suffered a "minor injury," according to the LAPD in a Twitter statement, following which his assailants "fled on foot."

Alan Jackson, Rocky's lawyer, acknowledged that his client had been detained but declined to speak further. Shortly after his arrest, he was released on $550,000 (£421,000) bail.

Rocky is due to appear in court on August 17.

The artist received a two-year suspended sentence in August 2019 for his participation in a scuffle in Stockholm.

After an argument, the rapper and two members of his entourage were found guilty of kicking and assaulting a 19-year-old male. They claimed they acted in self-defense, but the judge rejected this argument.
