Artists at Wireless Festival aren't allowed to swear or wear "offensive" clothing

Odd new licensing conditions have been put in place for next year

Bizarre new licensing conditions for Wireless Festival at Finsbury Park, London state that artists are no longer allowed to swear or wear "offensive" clothing.

Despite efforts from The Friends of Finsbury Park group to have the music festival’s license completely revoked, new restrictions request that artists "do not sing or play any vulgar, obscene or banned songs", as well as carry out any "indecent acts, vulgar gestures, actions or remarks" during their performances.

One of the other slightly extreme requests asks artists not to wear skimpy clothing as this could "offend the general public".

New sound level limits and monitoring will also be put in place for the Sunday, as well as finishing half an hour earlier than usual at 9.30pm.

Attracting crowds of up to 37,000, the festival sparked 67 complaints last year concerning anti-social behaviour, drug-dealing and litter damage, the Local Democracy Reporting Service reported.

Two people died after attending the event last year. The festival also launched an all-women stage last year after the original line-up included just three women and led to criticism.

Stormzy, J. Cole, Migos, Ms Banks, Raye, Barely Legal, Bad Gyal and Giggs all played at Wireless in 2018.
