Arca and DJ Babatr join forces on new single 'MK3TreF'

The tracks marks the first collaboration between two Venezuelan electronic music pioneers

Two of Venezuela's brightest electronic music stars, Arca and DJ Babatr, have teamed up on new single 'MK3TreF'.

The radio edit is available to listen to now on DJ Babatr's Bandcamp, with the 'Rapacious mix' out on Friday, September 29.

DJ Babatr AKA Pedro Elias Corro continues his strong 2023, which has seen him make his Boiler Room debut, release his first vinyl EP and line up his inaugural appearance at Berghain alongside none other than Skrillex, with a rousing raptor house effort co-produced by one of the most important electronic artists of the 21st century.

Collo describes raptor house as “a tropical Latin reinterpretation of techno”. It originated as part of Venezuela'sChanga Tuki movement of interlinked electronic music subgenres, with this strand developing in the early 2000s, with footage of the sound being played in 2005 watchable below:

Raptor house and other adjacent Latin-techno genres have begun to gain popularity beyond of South America in the last few years, with DJs such as BADISTA, Bitter Babe, Nick León, as well as Corro himself, all enjoying particular success. León and DJ Babatr even came together for their own collaborative track last year, TraTraTrax's hit 'Xtasis' which was remixed by Pearson Sound.

Accompanying the EP, the Caracas native wrote: "This is the raptor house sound united with the most influential Venezuelan artist of the decade."

'MK3TreF' is Arca's first release since Яitual, which came out in April. The track is more club focussed than the 'non-binary pop' she has been producing as part of her 'kiCK' series.
