Police release all Manchester bombing suspects without charge

It is still unclear whether Salman Abedi worked alone

Police have released all the suspects arrested in the wake of the Manchester bombing at an Ariana Grande concert last month.

22 people believed to be part of bomber Salman Abedi’s network were detained on suspicion of terrorism offenses following the attack, but have now all been released without charge.

It remains unclear whether Abedi had accomplices. Russ Jackson, head of counterterrorism policing for northwest England, said police believe Abedi assembled the bomb himself, but are uncertain "whether he acted alone in obtaining the materials for the device ... and whether others knew or were complicit in the storage of materials knowing what was being planned."

Abedi’s movements in the weeks prior to the attack have been investigated in detail, and Jackson has said police "understand how the chemicals and equipment were obtained and where the bomb was assembled."

The investigation is ongoing. Police have made an appeal for information from anyone who saw a white Nissan Micra believed to have been used by Abedi to transport and hold bomb components, and want to interview Abedi’s younger brother Hashem, who has been taken into custody in Libya.
