Matt Lange
Some synth-filled full-bodied techno from Matt Lange
After months of chatter and anticipation, Matt Lange is set to release his debut album 'Ephemera' via Mau5trap on September 10. To tide you over until then, we bring you the world premiere of his strictly-hardware produced track 'Ripples'.
A more experimental tune from 'Ephemeral' called 'Lying to Myself' was released this week, and it comes at the listener from an entirely different direction. It's strong, well-produced and definitely not a club tune, which was Lange's admitted intention.
So far, the productions that have been unveiled from 'Ephemera' hint at an LP with serious depth, striking contrast and strong personality. According to Lange, 'Ripples' in particular was quite literally crafted differently:
"Everything was essentially recorded live in multiple takes between an Electron Machinedrum for the percussion, and then the modular synth for everything else. The name, 'Ripples', comes from the name of a Mutable Instruments filter I used on the main synth motif."
Listen to the premiere of the full-bodied synth-filled techno tune 'Ripples' below.
