The Cover Mix: Bonobo
A sublime selection from our February cover star
Gracing the cover of our February 2017 issue is spellbinding Ninja Tune artist Simon Green aka Bonobo, who since the turn of the millennium has stealthily risen up the ranks to take position as the biggest live and album act in dance music.
As a DJ he takes dancers on musical trips, combining bold percussive foundations with soaring melodies to lift dance floors into higher realms of euphoria. Bonobo’s cover mix is a prime example of this energising approach, stylishly moving through cuts from Theo Parrish, Axel Boman, Denis Sulta and more. “A re-edit I made a couple of years back of my friend Kidkanevil’s gorgeous song featuring Phasma. I strapped extra drums and bass to it so I could play it in my sets on 2014’s US DJ tour”

“Another great tune from Axel Boman. He’s always so good at the long build! This one rewards you after the big Balearic breakdown”

“A beautiful cut from one of my favourite albums of the year”

“Huge tune. I have fond memories of playing this out for the first time at Warehouse Project in November”
