Trax Magazine is closing after 26 years

French music and culture magazine Trax has announced it will be closing down.

Confirming the news via Twitter, the publication - which has been running for 26 years - has officially “gone out of business” along with its owner, the creative agency, Bon Esprit.

Editor-in-chief of Trax, Simon Clair explained that it is “the end of a beautiful story,” adding that his only “regret” is that the latest issue will not be published adding: “It's finished and the pdf is ready, with Hamza, 100gecs and Xavier Veilhan on the cover.”

Within his Twitter thread, Clair attached a link to download the full unreleased magazine that the Trax team spent months working on.

His statement continued: “There's no need to review the state of the music press in France, and I don't like complaining too much. I remember that during these 4 years when I would have been the editor-in-chief, Trax has evolved quite a bit and we have been able to release issues of which I will forever be infinitely proud.”

A closing party for Trax will run on June 23 at Paris’ Point Ephemere that is set to be “anthological”.

The French publication launched in Paris in 1997 with its first issue showcasing The Chemical Brothers on the cover before other big electronic music names such as Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Richie Hawtin, Yaeji and plenty more.
