Scan 7’s debut album ‘Dark Territory’ to be reissued by Tresor
The remastered LP will be available digitally for the first time, as well as on vinyl
The debut album from influential techno collective Scan 7, 'Dark Territory', is being reissued by German label Tresor.
Coming on November 29, the record will be available digitally for the first time, as well as on vinyl. The label has shared the album's first track, 'Planet Energy', a kick drum-driven cut with a jazz-influenced bassline.
The eight-track LP was originally released by Tresor in 1996, with the label notes reading: “I hope you enjoy my records in the phuture to come” – a prescient message from the group’s leader Trackmaster Lou (AKA Lou Robinson).

The reissue of 'Dark Territory' was remastered from the original DAT files by Mike Grinser and Blake Baxter. It comes alongside a repressed vinyl and updated artwork.
Formed in techno's birthplace of Detroit, Scan 7 came to the fore during the mid-'90s, pioneering a sound that was dark and restrained, with deep and relentless groove.
The elusive, masked group has a revolving line-up of members, which has previously included Anthony Horton, Kris Harris, Mr. Hooper, One of 7, and more.

In 2000, the collective debuted ‘Scan 7: Live’ at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, cementing themselves as a pioneering and innovative force within the techno community.
Since then, Scan 7 has launched its own label, Scan Records, and released music via the likes of Underground Resistance, F-Comm, Elypsia Records and KMS.
The Tresor label was founded in 1991, the same year the associated Berlin club opened.
