In Session: DJ Deep
A club-focused mix featuring music by St. Germain, Underground Resistance and a few mysterious white labels
Being a versatile talent is becoming increasingly import for a DJ in today's music industry. For DJ Deep it's an aspect of his artistry that has remained at the core of his musical persona. Whether performing at a music festival, dark and gritty nightclub or on the radio, the French artist is proving to be one of the most versatile talents around, which is evident in his unique approach to DJ sets.
With a career spanning over two decades, releases on REKIDS, Kaoz Theory, Tresor and his own Deeply Rooted imprint, plus an eclectic radio show on Worldwide FM, DJ Deep has showcased a knack for being a chameleon behind the decks. His sets traverse the scope of house, techno, ambient and various forms of electronic and world music with ease, scaling the timeline and history of recorded music. A listener will never know what to expect from a DJ Deep set, but when seeing him in a nightclub, there's no doubt he'll showcase music that will make the dancefloor move.
For his In Session mix, DJ Deep delivered a set filled with club-focused material, including St. Germain’s remix of 'Fadjamou', Norm Talley's 'In The Mind', Dubspeeka's 'Contras IIIII', and a few unknown white labels that will be remain a mystery. DJ Deep described the inspiration behind the mix below:
"As I get a chance to present a very eclectic selection of music within my 'Open Library' shows on Worldwide FM, I decided to take a more club focused direction for this Mixmag In Session podcast. I tried to present the variety of music that I like to play out in parties, clubs or festivals, from the classic and deep sounds of Nelson Paradise Roman’s 'I Love’ to St Germain’s remix of 'Fadjamou'. As for Cliff St Cyr’s Deep Voyage - it’s an all time favourite House track of St Germain and myself, complimented by Sacha Dive’s latest release on Bass Culture.
"I also tried to present a more hypnotic aspect of music with E GZR’s dope Moritz’esque vibe or Dubspeeka’s release on Odd Even, before moving into James Ruskin’s uncompromising remix of Aiken 'Dominance' and our forthcoming remix of Scan 7 on Elypsia Records before finishing the set with two techno classics and leaving you with Underground Resistance’s 'Final Frontier'. Enjoy!"
