Saffron has announced plans to bring its Mix Nights DJ course for women and minority genders to London this weekend.

The course has been running successfully in Bristol across the past four years, teaching 136 people and helping to redress the gender imbalance in the city’s DJ landscape.

Mix Nights was co-created by DJs Daisy Moon, Danielle and Em Williams, with help from Lizzy Ellis and Laura Lewis-Paul from Saffron.

Tutors for the first London edition include OK Williams, Shanti Celeste, Saoirse and FAUZIA, as well as Mix Nights Bristol course graduates Glade Marie and Vanessa Maria.

It will run for eight weeks at Tottenham venue The Cause from October 20 to December 7, culminating in a COVID-safe showcase on December 8 where each course graduate will perform a 30 minute set.

The course costs £160, but 50% of places available completely free or on a ‘pay what you can’ thanks to funding from Arts Council England.

Applications are open until 8pm on Wednesday, October 14. You can apply here.
