Nyege Nyege Festival returns at new location in 2022

After a two year hiatus, Nyege Nyege Festival is back with a new, bigger location and a full line-up.

The seventh edition of the Uganda-based festival will run from September 15 to 18 taking place at Itanda Falls, which is five times bigger than their previous event site.

Artists from across Africa that will be performing include Kampire, MC Yallah, Otim Alpha, Phatstoki, DJ Travella and plenty more.

International artists also set to play include DJ Marcelle, Juliana Huxtable and DJ Paypal, among more than 300 artists.

With seven stages, art installations, and a huge range of activities, there is endless fun to be had at this year’s Nyege Nyege.

This year, the festival will open a city within the site named Nyegeville which provides five-star camping that overlooks the Nile river and even a private beach.

To be conscious of the environment, Nyege Nyege will be planting bamboo and use techniques in myco-fabrication to transform mushrooms to help with elements of the festival from stage design to lighting.

Nyege Nyege says: “Finally we are back, with so many fresh acts to present and a growing fan base in East Africa ready to unleash the Nyege Nyege, by pushing toward a more environmentally friendly festival and always more inclusivity, with the new site we feel it opens a new exciting chapter in our story.”

In 2020, the festival hosted a 96-hour digital festival due to the postponement of the pandemic.
