Milan's Tempio del Futuro Perduto to throw debut three-day festival in Berlin

The team behind Milan's Tempio del Futuro Perduto are set to head to Berlin this August with their debut electronic music and arts festival, Tempio.

Hosted in the German city's Mitte district, Tempio, meaning Temple in Italian, hopes to "bridge the gap" between cultural powerhouses, Berlin and Milan through music and art.

Boasting 130 global acts, line-up highlights include former lab participant, Bambounou b2b with NVST, Detroit's DJ Bone, DJ Plead b2b Low Jack, a unique hybrid set by Dutch-Surinamese DJ Parrish Smith and a special b2b session between Skee Mask and Zenker Brothers.

Aligning with the concept of 'Berlin meets Milan', the festival will also welcome showcases from Milanese luminaries such as Lele Sacchi, Industrial Romantico and Futuro Tropicale.

To gain entry to music nights, festival-goers must contribute a used book or clothing item to "support those in need".

Alongside a programme of electronic music, Tempio will host art and photography exhibitions, dance and yoga sessions, an anti-mafia workshop and panel discussions.

"In a Europe grappling with social and political turbulence and confronting the identity crisis within the techno and electronic music scene, we aim to contribute to the creation of new human connections and energies by addressing important topics beyond just music" Tempio founder Tommaso Dapri told Mixmag.

With humble beginnings, Milanese venue Tempio del Futuro Perduto, first started as a squat, using the abandoned space for parties and cultural events.

Described by Mixmag as "a squat rave like no to other", the space finally received recognition as a "cultural institution" by Italian law, after five years of operations.

Tempio del Futuro Perduto's Berlin takeover festival is scheduled to take place August 30 - September 1 at Alte Münze, Kulturquartier.

Alte Münze, meaning Old Mint, is an old coining manufacturing facility that has been transformed into a multi-disciplinary creative place by Spreewerkstätten.

Built on the foundations of the Medieval Krögel district of Old Berlin the former industrial building now plays host to various creative arts endeavours across a sprawling array of indoor and outdoor events spaces.

Tickets are available here starting at €5 a day.
