The New York City-based producer and songwriter explores relationships, identity and gender dysphoria

‘Umbra’ weaves its way across ambient synth pads and 808s, finding its way through the knotted themes of identity, messy relationships, paranoia and gender dysphoria.

MIIV’s voice soars over lusciously layered tracks, setting themselves up as the sonic descendent of artists like Bjork, Eartheater, Kelsey Lu and Spellling.
MIIV began producing at the end of high school, heavily influenced by their childhood listening to Fela Kuti, James Brown and gospel. They play bass, which comes to the fore in the productions on ‘Umbra’.
