Manchester-based station and streaming platform Crop Radio shares 100 new residents

New Manchester-based community radio station, CROP Radio, has announced its first 100 residents.

Based out of city centre nightclub and venue Stage & Radio, the residents - including Fliss Mayo, Gracie T, Henzo, yyre, Fastlove and Emby - are set to bolster regular programming, curated with an intention to spotlight underground electronic sounds across the musical spectrum.

To accompany the announcement, CROP has launched a new website to house the accompanying streams, and this week both christened the fresh online space and welcomed residents by throwing a free event at the studio. Kop-Z, Esme, colecta and Qwirk were among the line-up, with the space open to all

”We wanted to create a moment that amplified the fact that there is such a wealth of talent here in the North West,” explains CROP’s Connor Cooper. “We are still very new to the broadcasting world but we noticed a space for us to exist and the reaction has been overwhelming positive. The importance of community and feeling a part of something is now more prevalent than ever.

“We hope that through creating an extended family of residents and crews that can associate and be part of CROP, as well as having the door open to so many others who want to contribute, helps to cultivate that. We are still learning about what this region needs us to be and so we welcome collaboration in everything we aim to do to help make that happen.”

Looking forward, the studio intends to be a space where creativity, in whatever capacity, is able to flourish. :CROP Radio aims to build a platform within Manchester and surrounding areas that champions community, bridging the gap between the digital and physical worlds," reads its press release. "Their studio, and online streaming space provide a place for creativity, expression, and communication — encouraging experimentation and development from artists."
