Laksa and re:ni launch new label re:lax and share first EP
The label launches five years after the curation of their joint radio show
London’s re:ni and Bristol’s Laksa have teamed up to form their own record label re:lax, a hub for jungle, dubstep, grime, and UK techno exploring the faster tempos and darker corners of club music.
Five years since the launch of their joint radio show of the same name on NTS and three years since the start of their party series, the pair announced the launch of their label today with a brand new release from Laksa.
The first track from ‘Body Score’, a three-track EP from Laksa due for release in April, landed today marking the official launch of re:lax. “As a social worker as well as a producer/DJ I’m into the idea how music, and especially dancing/raving, can be therapeutic and/or cathartic,” he explained.

“Just think about those nights which leave you on a high and can help carry you through the week. It's emotion and feeling in music is very important to us, and the label. All the track titles reference these interconnected processes.”
‘Body Score’ sits around the 150BPM mark throughout, and acknowledges “the darkside of life” across three tracks, with a sample from psychiatrist Bessel van der Kolk. Speaking about the record, re:ni added that it makes for the "perfect illustration of the sounds we've been pushing on air and at the raves"
“Now more than ever it’s easier for you to create and put music online,” the pair said on the new imprint. “This can be a good thing, but it’s also easier for it to get lost, and we’re looking to expand the contribution of re:lax.

“Hopefully we can poke our heads out, create some narrative, and do something that feels personal, engaging and energising to a listener, no matter where they’re listening from.”
To celebrate the launch of re:lax, re:ni and Laksa are set to throw a launch party on April 21 at Ormside Projects, followed by a second show at Berghain on April 28.
