Johanna Burnheart announces remix EP
One of the remixes is by Acid Pauli, which is accompanied by a ‘visually arresting’ music video
German musician Johanna Burnheart has announced ‘Burnheart Remixed’: a collection of reimagined tracks from her debut album ‘Burnheart’.
The remix collection sees Burnheart explore the underground club scene which she says influences her work, with four electronic artists providing remixes.
The four artists are Acid Pauli, Beth Lydi, Nesa Azadikhah (who provides two remixes) and Pilo Adami - each providing their own twists on various tracks, channeling the underground scene.

On the involvement of Acid Pauli, Burnheart says: “[he] was one of the first DJs I ever became aware of when I started listening to electronic music in Berlin. His sound world is so nostalgic for me and I was absolutely thrilled to find out he is also an incredibly kind man and produced this beautiful track for me.”
The Pauli remix is also accompanies by a music video, which reimagines the Greek myth of Sisyphos - who was condemned to repeat the same task day after day.
On her inspiration behind the video, director Sorcha Kennedy says: “In this life, we repeat, we loop, we cycle, we create, we destroy. To create in the hope that the creation will never age or decay is to deny the fundamental truth of this earthly life.”
“The idea of being condemned to “meaningless” tasks without end touches us, I think, due to an existential anxiety that our lives are entrenched in cycles of repetition. In this piece I wanted to create a new myth - to explore these two perspectives. Someone whose creations are destroyed as fast as she can create.”

The EP, ‘Burnheart Remixed’, drops on November 19. It’ll be available via vinyl and digital download.
