Visit NYC's iconic nightclubs in the video for 'Witch Doktor (Agent Orange DJ 2018 Rework)'
Agent Orange guides us through Tunnel, Limelight, Shelter and more
Legendary NYC DJ and producer Agent Orange takes on the classic Armand Van Helden track 'Witch Doktor' and flips it with a remix that delivers a pumping techno anthem. Now the track's been given a music video that takes viewers on a wild journey through iconic NYC nightclubs like Tunnel, Sound Factory, Pacha, Vinyl, Limelight, The Shelter, The Roxy and more.
Remixing a classic is perhaps a daunting task, but Agent Orange's version of 'Witch Doktor' carefully beefs up the energy while also paying homage to the original. With that, it's been getting high praise from many of clubland's major players.
Agent Orange had this to say on his approach to the remix: "I have had Witch Doktor on my list of songs to rework for a very long time. Armand's original holds a very special place in my heart as it was an anthem to my early days of clubbing and raving in NYC. It was probably the first track that crossed over and united my House Head and Raver friends at the time, which I found magical. Such a club classic with its air horn and wooping. To be able to rework it from the bottom up and give it a modern flair was a real honor for me and a task I did not take on lightly! I wanted to keep the integrity and vibe of the original while giving it a modern flair."
Upon completion, Agent Orange sent the remix to Carl Cox, who played it 2 weeks later at Resistance and has been rinsing it ever since. Soon Adam Beyer and Layton Giordani would hear it and reached out for a copy to play. By the end of August it was getting heavy rotation from Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing, UMEK, Monika Kruse, Thomas Schumacher, Layton Giordani, Pig&Dan, Loco&Jam, Spektre and Durtysoxxx.
Having been released in December, the remix is now given new life with an official music video that takes viewers through various iconic club atmospheres and provides a special surprise at the end.
