HARK, a new record store with a nearby Hi-Fi repair workshop, has opened on the 11th arrondissement in Paris.

It aims to stock an eclectic mix of both second hand and new records, also placing an emphasis on supporting local artists.

The launch party took place last month, featuring a tribute to acclaimed French electronic music record label, Ed Banger Records, founded by Pedro Winter in 2003 and home to acts like Justice, SebastiAn and Mr. Ozio.

Speaking to RA, one of the shop's founders, Louise Chen, said: "The team at HARK is a mix of audio Hi-Fi nerds, record hunters, engineers and artist managers. We're all sincere and invested music lovers."

She hopes that HARK can be a place that fosters the development of local scenes by helping emerging artists grow, and encouraging music lovers to support them.

"We'd love to eventually create a one stop shop for musicians, music lovers and young music-curious people alike," she added. "The collective experience and transmission are the two big things that we feel are missing from digital/streaming offerings, making it harder and harder to produce a new common generational sound and vocabulary."

She continued: "Everywhere is in need of cultural spaces, to help each other out, building up new headliners and share resources with hungry younger generations that typically feel left out because of economical reasons. We're hoping to make all our pop culture knowledge and savoir-faire available to encourage curiosity, dialogue and exchange."
