​Rare 90-minute Andrew Weatherall mix from 1997 emerges online

A rare, almost three decade-old mix from the late Andrew Weatherall has emerged online.

The set was posted in full to Twitter on Saturday, April 5, by Manchester-based rave archivist DorkSirjur, who compiles rare and legendary mixes online.

The mix, which clocks in at just under 90 minutes, was recorded at Voodoo – a storied club night hosted at Liverpool venue Clear – in May of 1997.

“Another set from this icon now, 28 years ago in a rarer set,” the archivist explained alongside the mix. “This is the full 90 minutes, that opening fucking hell. Just an incredible DJ, producer and artist, sorely missed by all.”

Voodoo began in 1993, with regular events hosted on the first floor of Liverpool club Clear on Mount Pleasant. The club night welcomed house and techno artists from all over the world.

The rare mix is available to listen to on Twitter, alongside more than 800 other old skool mixes from DJs including Sasha, Danny Tenaglia, John Digweed, Deep Dish, Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, and plenty more.

DorkSirjur asks fans for donations to support the hosting of these mixes, explaining: “All donations go towards the monthly hostage costs”.

In February 2020, shortly after his death, a collection of Andrew Weatherall DJ mixes was published online, compiling more than 900 hours of music.

The Weatherdrive appeared as a Google Drive folder containing sub folders spanning mixes, live recordings, and radio shows from 1988 to 2020.

Mixes were recorded at venues including Lakota in Bristol, Ministry of Sound in London, and Mission in Leeds amongst others, as well as European shows in Barcelona, Brussels, Berlin, and further afield.
