LCD Soundsystem set to release first new track in five years
‘New Body Rhumba’ was made for the forthcoming Netflix film, White Noise
LCD Soundsystem are reportedly returning with their first new track in five years.
The new track, allegedly named ‘New Body Rhumba’, will feature in an upcoming Netflix title from Noah Baumbach titled White Noise.
The electronic rock outfit last released original music in 2017 with the 11-track record ‘American Dream’, which was later followed up with a live album in 2019, ‘Electric Lady Sessions’.

Variety first reported news of the next release on Friday, August 26, which was later confirmed by a representative for the band to Pitchfork. ‘New Body Rhumba’ will appear on the Netflix film later in 2022.
The forthcoming flick from Noah Baumbach Don DeLillo’s 1985 novel White Noise is described as an “apocalyptic action film” based around a cataclysmic train accident.
The film is set to feature the likes of Greta Gerwig, Adam Driver, Don Cheadle, and an acting debut from US rapper André 3000. White Noise will premiere tomorrow, August 31, at Venice Film Festival before it appears on Netflix later this year.

LCD Soundsystem’s last original material came after the group had reunited for the first time since their split in 2011. The then seven-piece played a farewell show in New York that same year before releasing the box set record ‘The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live at Madison Square Garden’.
The group reformed in 2016 where they played a headline slot at Coachella festival, and just last year, played a string of shows at Brooklyn Steel. James Murphy and his band were due to play 20 a 20-show residency but cancelled some due to the pandemic.
