fabric is set to hold a fundraiser night for ex-promotions manager Shaun Roberts, ‘A Dance For Shaun’, on November 18 to raise money for life-extending cancer treatment.

The event will fund the treatment which now surpasses NHS help and requires high-cost medical care following a diagnosis of stage four metastatic cancer just over a year ago.

“The treatment isn’t cheap. I had just gone self-employed when I got ill and had to cancel all of the work I had for the year ahead. Then CoVid!” said Roberts in his GoFundMe campaign.

“It’s all going into the medical fund,” he continued. “I’m embarrassed to say it but I’m pretty broke and my ability to go back to work is limited for the time being. It was a real struggle for me to do this.”

Roberts has now raised almost £150,000 in support of his treatment. On November 18, fabric will host ‘A Dance For Shaun’ with all ticket and booking fee proceeds going toward his life-extending treatment.

With a line-up including the Chemical Brothers, Annie Mac, Chase and Status, Fatboy Slim, Daniel Avery, Andy C, and more, fabric’s fundraiser event will spread itself across all three rooms.

Cameron Leslie, fabric’s Managing Director and Co-Founder, said on the event, “Shaun is someone we have known for 20 years. He’s a very close friend of ours and also respected across the industry.

“This event is the best way to support him. He means a huge amount to many of us – artists, agencies and managers alike – so this is a reflection of the love we have for him.”

Roberts has shared his appreciation for the ongoing support on his fundraiser, adding his adoration for fabric and their continued help: “I lived in fabric for 15 years, so the club really is a huge part of who I am,” he said.

“Now we have this quite ridiculous line-up of artists who I’m also proud to call friends. It’s going to be very emotional. Is it ok to wear sunglasses in a club if you’re crying?”
