fabric celebrates 25 years with launch of new record label

fabric has announced the launch of a new record label to mark 25 years of the iconic club and FABRICLIVE mix series.

The club announced a “renewed focus” for the FABRICLIVE brand in its 25th year, expanding into a dedicated record label and a series of videos around its legacy.

The launch of the FABRICLIVE label marks a milestone for the brand, and will sit under the fabric Records umbrella alongside its flagship label launched in 2022, fabric Originals, as well as its jungle-focused imprint Houndstooth.

According to a press release, the imprint promises to highlight both established artists and emerging talent, focusing on “raw, emotional, and fast-paced sounds”.

FABRICLIVE has always been at the core of what makes fabric unique,” says FABRICLIVE booker Grace Flynn. “This isn’t about a relaunch, as FABRICLIVE has always been here, but a refocus.”

“[It’s] a way to reflect on 25 years of FABRICLIVE and look forward to what’s next with the sounds of the UK always at the heart of what we do,” she adds.

As a monthly mix series, FABRICLIVE ran from 2001 to 2018 with mixes focusing on UK underground music like grime, drum ‘n’ bass, and hip hop. In 2018, fabric announced that the series would come to an end with its 100th instalment from Kode9 and Burial.

“With the record label, we’re giving the FABRICLIVE ethos a new platform to grow and evolve, connecting even more personally with fans," Grace explains.

To mark its 25th year, fabric also announced the launch of a video series focusing on FABRICLIVE’s legacy and impact throughout the decades. The first short film in the series features legendary UK MC Flowdan.
