Ewan McVicar releases new EP, ‘Movin’ On Over’

Scottish producer and DJ Ewan McVicar has released his latest EP, ‘Movin’ On Over’.

It’s available on Optimo Music Digital Danceforce (OMDD) - with their ‘Optimo Trax’ being a massive inspiration for the musician.

McVicar’s love for the older ‘Optimo Trax’ releases is showcased within the EP, alongside spotlighting his love for the underground house music scene and the parties at Glasgow’s Sub Club.

“I can’t believe I am releasing on fucking OPTIMO Music,” McVicar exclaims. “From driving up to Sub Club from Ayr every Tuesday to hear JD Twitch at the i am, then the odd Saturday - when I wasn't djing - to hear both JD Twitch and JG Wilkes play at Subculture. And to now, being signed to one of the most cultural and forward thinking labels on the planet is insane!

“I've followed Optimo for over 10 years now and really fell in love with ‘Optimo Trax’ when I was around 19. I've tried for months to figure out which superlatives I would use to describe the label but all I can think about is my admiration for what they have done for Scotland and Glasgow. This, for me, is the biggest milestone in my career to date.”

The EP consists of three tracks. Title tune ‘Movin’ On Over’ references Chicago’s Ron Hardy with thumping basslines and acid elements, with following track ‘Slowing Up The Freak’ doing so in a similar fashion, with hypnotic and dance-floor driven influences.

There’s a remix of ‘Slowing Up The Freak’ too, from IKONIKA, to further emphasise the trippy, freak-like tune.

‘Which Way To Go?’ finishes the EP with computer samples and acid house basslines, reminiscent of its late-night creation - arguably ideal for the afterparty.
