Eastern Margins announce new festival celebrating East and South East Asian culture in Hackney

Eastern Margins is set to present a new festival celebrating East and South East Asian culture, Margins United, in Hackney, London.

Supported by the UK Arts Council, the 12-hour day and night event is set to take over EartH Hackney on September 28 and will feature a wide array of music as well as visual art, food, creative installations, talks, workshops and other activities.

Margins United will welcome cult hero DJ Love, performing away from his Philippines home for the first time ever — as well as a debut UK performance from singer Soo Joo.

Also set to play are beatmaker Onra, Malaysian electronic artist Shelhiel, a DJ set from R&B star No Rome, and Hong Kong-based Drum ’n’ bass artist gyrofield and others.

There will also be several one-off interactive performances, with LVRA and Soda Plains set to come together and perform an exclusive debut of their new collaborative project — as well as a performance from South London-based cinematic artist Jianbo, and a multimedia mix of spoken word, crowd-based choreography and performance from Meyy.

Eastern Margins was founded in 2018 as a "home for alternative Asian culture." The group has been a vital part of the community-building movement for East and South Asian communities, which over the years has seen them curate events up and down the country, including a state takeover at Glastonbury.

Tickets will go live via this link on July 25.
