Daniel Avery
The Phantasy mainstay is back
Just over two years ago Daniel Avery released his debut long player 'Drone Logic' and it received critical acclaim across the board. The mechanical, electro-facing album brought forward a fresh and exciting sound that defined his musical output over the last few years.
More recently, his sound on the floor has taken a more direct route towards a fiercer techno sound and b2b sets with Roman Flügel and Rødhåd in particular have resulted in a more refined and steely showcase.
This is reflected in the first batch of new music we've had from him this year. Returning to the ever-diverse Phantasy imprint, Avery will release the 'Sensation'/'Clear' EP next month and it's his most unapologetic, expansive work yet.
We've got the premiere of 'Clear' and although it's unmistakably Avery, it's harder than it's ever been before. The claps and snares have been shelved for a more rugged, 4/4 techno roller, one that transfixes with hypnotic synths and delicate analogue glitches.
A warehouse space engulfed with this darkly-melancholic sound is a place we really want to be. Get ready for Avery Mk.2, it's lethal.
The 'Sensation'/'Clear' EP by Daniel Avery will be released digitally on December 4 via Phantasy, the vinyl will be released on November 27, grab it here
