Daft Punk shares never-seen-before 'Random Access Memories' studio footage

Daft Punk have released unseen footage from the creation of their last album, ‘Random Access Memories’.

The footage was shared in the docu-series rolling out on the duo’s YouTube titled Memory Tapes.

The latest episode includes an interview with Canadian pianist Chilly Gonzales, who recalls a meeting with Daft Punk - Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo - at which they asked for him to remix their track ‘Too Long’.

He continued to work with the pair on the ‘Random Access Memories’ track, ‘Within’. In the episode, Gonzales walks through the process of making the track, which took palce two to three years prior to its release, with accompanying archival footage that has never been shown before.

“It's really their first ballad,” he explains. “It’s a real emotional moment on the album”.

The first episode of the series included an interview with The Strokes' Julian Casablanca and further episodes will see the likes of Pharrell Williams, Todd Edwards, DJ Falcon and Nile Rodgers.

These interviews were recorded at Henson Studios in Los Angeles and Gang Studios in Paris, which is where Daft Punk spent most of their time working on 'Random Access Memories'.

Last week it was revealed that Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo worked on the track ‘MODERN JAM’ featuring Teezo Touchdown from Travis Scott’s latest album ‘UTOPIA’.
