Daft Punk to feature in Pharrell Williams’ LEGO biopic ‘Piece by Piece’

Daft Punk has been spotted on the film poster of Pharrell Williams’ upcoming LEGO biopic Piece by Piece.

The robots famously worked with Pharrell on their 2013 no.1 hit collaboration ‘Get Lucky’, which also features in the film’s trailer.

Piece by Piece will follow the artist's life from his childhood in Virginia through to his musical career—all dramatised in LEGO form.

As well as Daft Punk the film is set to star Jay Z, Busta Rhymes, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, and Gwen Stefani.

Co-produced by Pharrell, the film is also said to feature a range of his classic tracks on top of some new work.

Film director, Morgan Neville told Variety: "There are so many great characters, everybody from Snoop to Daft Punk, all these different people are amazing in LEGO."

He added: "But recreating recording studios and boom boxes, and turntables and all this stuff that hadn’t really been done, people are going to…I want a set of all that stuff! It was a great, creative challenge."

Over the weekend, the film made its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado.

Critics have been singing the biopic's praises, such as Deadline's Pete Hammond saying it leaves you with “hope and a whole bunch of songs you will not be able to get out of your head.”

"Is it a documentary? A biopic? An animated movie? A musical? A character study? You bet - and more. Williams and Neville have taken it apart and put it all back together to perfection," Hammond adds.
