Posthumous compilation curated by legendary Ibiza DJ Alfredo to land next month

A compilation curated by late Ibiza DJ Alfredo will be released next month.

'Paraíso. True Spirit of Ibiza' consists of 33 tracks that are "emblematic" of the late DJ's "musical vision", with selections from Andrew Weatherall, 808 State, Mr. Fingers, Nitzer Ebb and more. 

Work on the compilation began in 2022, when Alfredo was approached by Rebirth Records label head Daniele "Shield" Contrini and asked to create a release that captured the "true spirit of Ibiza".

Set for release on September 12, the first single from 'Paraíso. True Spirit of Ibiza' is 'Inspirations (0224 mix)', an unreleased track from Alfredo that he had been working on for "quite some time".

The Argentinian DJ passed away aged 71 in December 2024, after suffering from ill-health for several years following a stroke. Having first emigrated to the White Isle in 1976, Alfredo became one of the most influential DJs on the island — widely regarded as the "father" of the Balearic beat movement.

In the description of 'Paraíso. True Spirit of Ibiza', Rebirth Records claims that the project had always been met with "great enthusiasm", though also faced challenges over licensing rights until Alfredo's death.

"His loss made the completion of the project even more urgent," the description reads. "And it became a mission supported by the invaluable contributions of many artists who had shared in his musical journey."

"This collection serves as an authentic tribute to a man and a sound that defined an era and continues to inspire the present and future of electronic music."
