Chloé Robinson releases debut single with DJ ADHD, ‘Steamin’

DJ and selector now turned producer, Chloé Robinson (FKA Barely Legal), takes a spin at beatmaking this month on the release of her debut production effort, ‘Steamin’.

In collaboration with long-time b2b partner DJ ADHD, ‘Steamin’ is the product of years in selecting and spinning, now culminating in this five-minute techno stormer.

The 909-laden production landed today, July 27, on her own imprint Pretty Weird. Chloé’s label has previously released work from DJ ADHD, as well as tracks from the likes of Nikki Nair, Villager, and Chimpo.

"During lockdown DJ ADHD and I started making tracks together, one of them being ‘Steamin’,” Chloé tells Mixmag after the release of her debut track.

“At first, we were in the middle of a lockdown in Colombia so ended up having to produce all of our tracks on a Bluetooth speaker in our apartment! Once we got back to the UK, we mixed them all down on a proper setup and when clubs started to open, we had about 8 tracks finished and ready to play.”

Chloé added that she’s been playing the track out at gigs and festivals for over a year, which has picked up responses and praise from fellow producers including Four Tet, Carl Cox, Peggy Gou, and plenty more.

“All our mates were telling us: ‘STEAMIN!! That’s the one!’, and now that it's finally surfacing, we’re so proud and excited,” she tells Mixmag. “I’ve been playing this one out for a year now alongside some absolute icons and I’m still not even a tiny bit bored of it… In fact I love it even more now!”
