Charlotte de Witte reveals new EP, 'Apollo'

Charlotte de Witte has released her new EP, 'Apollo'.

Available via her KNTXT label, it's a collection of hard-hitting club tracks that twist and turn through squelching acid 303s, pumping kick drums and ethereal vocals.

Of note is closing track 'PPC', which is an experimental affair, stripped of de Witte's trademark heavy beats and fast-paced sounds. Replacing such is the lacing of space transmissions within the beatless two-and-a-half-minutes, showcasing a more pensive and exploratory side to the producer and DJ's ever-growing discography.

"The vastness and solitude of space always interested me," says de Witte on both the final track and the galactical theme which is clearly communicated throughout all avenues of the record, "a compelling contrast between monumental power and the vacuum in between. This diversion can also be found in techno music, a pure simplicity divergent in power."

'Apollo' follows April's 'Universal Consciousness' EP, which was showcased at the Belgian's stacked touring schedule over summer, which saw her become the first techno - and female - DJ to headline the mainstage of Tomorrowland, and play worldwide at events including Awakenings Festival and even Burning Man.

In the coming week, she's set to play at Amsterdam Dance Event, spearheading a takeover by her KNTXT label of the iconic Ziggo Dome. It'll also see a collaboration with clothing brand Filling Pieces, before she jets off to South America for more KNTXT showcases in Buenos Aires and São Paulo.

And whilst sticking to such a packed schedule, de Witte's exploration of more mysterious, experimental elements in combination with her trademark hard-hitting warehouse pounders via 'Apollo' could suggest that there is more where that came from for the increasingly popular techno DJ.

In the meantime check out 'Apollo' here, where you can access it digitally or get your hands on a vinyl copy.
