Boys Noize announces release of new album '+/-'
The DJ will also be dropping two tracks ahead of the album release
German DJ and producer Alex Ridha, better known as Boys Noize, is releasing a new studio album '+/-' (pronounced "Polarity"), out September 24.
On August 25, Ridha shared the full details, artwork and tracklist from the LP that is slated for release on September 24 via his label, Boysnoize Records. This will be his fifth studio album.
Ahead of its Friday release, Boys Noize will be dropping 2 advance songs on Thursday, September 23; (+) 'Affection' with ABRA, and (-) 'Detune'.

Speaking about 'Affection', Boys Noize commented: “[Me and ABRA] were both in L.A. and made the song from scratch. She's so talented and plays a bunch of instruments. She wanted to do this freestyle-inspired track, so it became a darker version. It's more of a song than other tracks on the album. I feel way more confident making bangers and techno tracks.”
In traditional Boys Noize fashion, the 15-track album transcends genre by having acid, house, techno-punk and electro influence. Known for his underground sound, Boys Noize also appeals to wide mainstream audiences and has big names in popular music featured in this album including Rico Nasty, ABRA and Tommy Cash.
In 2016, Boys Noize played at the Mixmag Lab New York. You can watch his set here.

All the album art has been done in collaboration with Eric Timothy Carlson. Carlson has also provided iconography and artwork which contains a cryptic code of characters and symbols that map the conflicting influences and emotions that served as the ingredients for the album. Boys Noize is wanting to make a memorable audio-visual experience for fans through this album.
The DJ and producer has also recently co-written and produced a new release ‘Unlock It’ by ABRA, featuring Playboi Carti. Previously, Boys Noize has worked on production with the likes of ASAP Rocky, Frank Ocean and Lady Gaga’s “Rain on Me”, which won a GRAMMY in 2020.

Speaking about the release of his upcoming studio album, Alex says “The album dives into the polar tension between the musical styles and worlds I find myself in.”
“When you combine opposites, something transcendent can take place, something greater than the two parts. And with music, it becomes a magic that can create new worlds.”
“I've always been inspired by trying to integrate opposing, polar forces,” says Ridha. “There's something really thrilling in it, and it's always a secret motivation for me; building and exploring the combination of contrasts. Techno’s earliest inspiration was the idea of combining man and machine. And you can continue from there—aggression and beauty, past and future...”
Following the release of his album, Boys Noize will also be going on a world tour, playing at infamous venues such as Melkweg in Amsterdam and Los Angeles’ Boiler Room.
