Washington D.C. based record label Black Techno Matters has announced that it will be kicking off 2024 with a limited edition run of 64GB USB drives for its second compilation, 'F_X_M_X_L_Y v2'.

While the compilation's duration clocks in at over 17 hours of music, with 130 songs from 16 artists, the USB will also offer archive flyers and video footage from previous Black Techno Matters events, two DJ mixes and three sample packs. The imprint also hints at "other surprises" on the drive via its Bandcamp.

Contributors include Adam 2, Blvksite, B_X_R_N_X_R_D, FUTURE DRUM CIRCLE, Jamal Dixon, Kotic Couture, MerlinBerlin, Outputmessage, Smoke & Tea, and Trovarsi.

Each artist was given complete freedom to choose what they wanted to add to their individual USB folder, with additions ranging from live modular sets, sample packs and fully fledged EPs plus deluges of unreleased and archive material.

There will only be 100 copies of the Black Techno Matters 'F_X_M_X_L_Y v2' USB, which "is an instant level up for any DJ's collection", available to pre-order now with shipping to start on January 12, 2024. The compilation will also release digitally on Bandcamp on the same date.

Founded by Bernard Farley AKA B_X_R_N_X_R_D in 2019, Black Techno Matters is a collective whose mission is "to reclaim techno as a manifestation of Black expression in a society that has oppressed it by creating spaces, both virtual and IRL, that celebrate the Black roots of techno."

The team also features Marshall Stukes, the organisation's technology lead who fronts the Black Techno Matters Radio operation, and Justin Barini-Rivers AKA Blvksite, an "Ableton ninja" who helps run the label, such as mastering tracks for the new compilation, and educates children on music production.
