Björk's 'Utopia' boxset will contain birdcall flutes, obviously
Such a Björk thing to do
Björk's releasing a boxset of her 2017 album 'Utopia' and it'll contain 14 handmade birdcall flutes.
The Icelandic singer's career has been a unique one so the inclusion of such products come as no real surprise really.
Each one, selected by Björk, comes with instructions and with details on the types of birdcall.
If you're wondering what 'Utopia' - produced by experimental artist Arca - has to do with birdcall flutes, Björk released a statement explaining the relation.
"'Utopia' is so much about birdsong and sonically the mutation between synth/bird, bird/flute, flute/synth. Air like that was a theme through all of the album. So i got very excited when I found these handmade wooden flutes imitating precisely particular birds. And i guess wanted you guys to have an opportunity to share that with me. Enjoy!!!”
Björk worked with French company Quelle Est Belle on the boxset which also contains a custom-made USB with the music from 'Utopia', videos, images and an unreleased instrumental.
The 'Utopia Bird Call Boxset' is out on November 1 on One Little Indian. It'll only cost you a cool £500...
