New report suggests world's "most beloved" clubs are in the UK

A new report from DJ Tech Reviews suggests that the best clubs in the world are in the UK, surpassing popularity over the European clubbing capitals of Ibiza and Berlin.

The report - which tallies up popularity across Google reviews, Instagram followers, and other scores - found that several clubs in the UK sit in the top position.

Manchester’s Warehouse Project comes in first with an overall score of 8.31 out of ten seeing a total 81,800,000 TikTok views and 277,000 Instagram followers over time.

In second place, London’s Printworks follows shortly after with a total score of 8.27 out of ten. DJ Tech Reviews also found that since 2019, Printworks has seen a 128% increase in Google searches.

Despite Printworks' addition to the chart, the beloved London club is due to close in a matter of weeks due to development of the local area. The venue has finalised its closure date Monday, May 1.

Ibiza’s Ushuaïa has had the largest increase in Google searches since 2019 at 419%, and also peaks with the most Instagram followers and TikTok views, but sits just below Printworks and The Warehouse Project at 7.59 out of ten.

The top ten clubs - as suggested by DJ Tech Reviews - also includes Berlin’s Berghain, Bootshaus in Cologne, several clubs in Ibiza, Miami, Brazil, and London’s fabric.

“To get an overall ranking for each venue we took into account the total number of TikTok hashtags, Instagram followers, Instagram hashtags, average Google review score, the number of Google searches from March 2022 to February 2023 and the percentage increase in searches from March 2019 to February 2023,” reads the report.

“Each venue was then given a normalised score out of ten for each of these factors before an average of these scores was taken.”

Elsewhere on the report, DJ Tech Reviews found that the best reviewed venue in the world is the Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Colorado, USA, while the most searched for venue is California’s Hollywood Bowl.

While the report suggests that the world's most beloved clubs are in the UK, hundreds of venues have closed in recent years across the nation. The cost of living crisis has impacted venues from Glasgow right down to London, and has seen a rate of one club closure every single week in the UK.
