Berlin music venue Kirche von Unten, otherwise known as KvU, has announced that it will close in its current location early next year.

The venue broke the news on Instagram last week, explaining that its rental agreement had been terminated by the landlord and they now have just a matter of months until closure.

“We are being evicted from our beloved home (for the second time),” KvU said in a statement on Instagram. “We expect to have 6 more months here.”

The venue added that it will continue to hold all “planned concerts, exhibitions, workshops, readings,” and more until its closure. “This should not stop all the creative events this year.”

“We were shocked yesterday, are sorting ourselves out today and want to do everything possible to keep the KvU going,” they said.

KvU is now urging fans to support the venue to keep it from permanent closure. “If you have any ideas on how you can support us, please let us know. We will update you as soon as we know more,” they said.

KvU operates in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg, hosting regular club nights, live music events, workshops, and more, providing a space for the city’s creative youth.

Recent events at KvU include a “FLINTA*-friendly” broken beat and bass night, a drum ‘n’ bass event, and a night of live performances, DJ sets, and live A/V shows “exploring the realms of dub, jungle, D&B, breakbeat, bass & experimental”.
