Balenciaga launches "Speaker Bag" in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen

Balenciaga and Bang & Olufsen have collaborated to create ‘Speaker Bag’— a handbag which is also a speaker that plays music.

The fashion company and the audio tech company have collaborated to create the Speaker Bag, a handbag which is also a speaker that plays music.

The new "Haute Couture hi-fi" product was revealed earlier this month on July 7 at Balenciaga’s 51st Couture show in Paris.

The music, which is normally an integral part of any Balenciaga fashion show, was given to the audience in the form of the Speaker Bag.

The Speaker Bag, which may be used as a handbag, purse, or both, is undoubtedly a standout accessory. It is the embodiment of both businesses' insatiable desire to keep bridging the gap between technology and fashion, and fusing the two as our world becomes more technologically advanced.

The bag is carved from solid aluminium before being pearl-blasted, anodized, and hand-polished. The press release for the bag says "working with aluminium allows for a continuous flow all the way from handle to base."

It has an 18-hour battery life and features multi-point connectivity and has an inside storage space that is lined with lambskin.

"We believe that people should be able to tailor their sound system to match their exact sonic and aesthetic preferences, without ever compromising on sound quality," reads Bang & Olufsen's website.

Miklu Silvanto, Bang & Olufsen's Chief Design Officer says in a press statement: "Couture is custom, exclusive, culture creating and art of making by extremely skilled craftsmen. From our aluminium factory to Balenciaga's atelier to an entirely remarkable product. You have to see, hear and feel it and we are so excited to show it today".

There are only 20 Speaker Bags available, and they can be found at select Balenciaga boutique stores.
