Amapiano officially added as a genre on Beatport
Previously, amapiano would filter into the genres of Afro House, Deep House and Dance/Electro Pop
The South African sound of amapiano has become its own genre on Beatport.
After years of falling into the categories of Afro House, Deep House and Dance/Electro Pop, the genre is finally provided its own space on the online music story.

Some of the names that are waving the flag for amapiano include DBN Gogo, Focalistic, Major League DJz and labels such as, Jozi Entertainment, Busta 929’s Thupa Industry, and Kabza De Small’s PianoHub.
The amapiano tracks that were previously in the incorrect categories will now be moved over into this new genre.
In a press release from Beatport, they say that now this new genre has been introduced on their site there can help users "discover the sound, translating into improved sales for artists and labels, and a better customer experience, as fans can find music that is truly representative of the amapiano culture."
