17-year-old GIRLI can flick from tales of sniffing glue to female empowerment mantras within seconds. With barrels of angst and humour, the London singer merges bubblegum dance-pop with fierceness, as on the spit-in-your-eye feminist anthem ‘Girls Get Angry Too’, which was produced by Shutdown’s Ragz Originale. On ‘So You Think You Can Fuck With Me, Do Ya’, she mocks listeners with a teasing ballad that’s eventually blasted away by a highly energised mix of 8-bit, grime and Eurodance. The self-proclaimed ‘samurai princess’ is taking no prisoners.
