Watch the new trailer for Top Boy's fifth and final season

The last series is set to land on Netflix in September

Netflix has confirmed that the fifth and final season of UK smash hit Top Boy will land on the service in September, announcing the news alongside a new trailer.

The trailer, which features Ashley Walters and Kane ‘Kano’ Robinson as lead characters Dushane and Sully, gives an insight into the emotional events that fans can expect from the last run of the show.

One clip seems to indicate a fight between Dushane and Sully with the line: “How do you think we survived all this time?”, with Kano’s Sully continuing on to say: “If we’re not monsters, we’re food. And I could never be food.”

Most episodes of the show are available on Netflix, including one non-Netflix produced season which was originally aired on Channel 4.

The last season of the show was titled Season 2 on the platform, although it was technically the fourth season. These first two seasons, produced by Channel 4, have since been renamed Top Boy: Summerhouse by Netflix.

Top Boy Season 1 saw appearances from Micheal Ward, Jasmine Jobson and Little Simz as well as new features from Nolay, Adwoa Aboah and more.

Kano and Walters, who are both actors and executive producers of the show, said they are “very excited about what’s next”.

“Whilst the journeys of Dushane and Sully have remained at the core of the show, the new characters that have entered the world of Top Boy have become a key part of the show’s legacy," they said in a statement. "Representing each new storyline in a raw, authentic way.

“With all this being said, and staying true to our original goal, every story must have an ending and so season three will be our finale. A chance to come full circle and end the journey in the right way.”
