The US heatwave is causing vinyl records to warp
As customers receive weather-damaged records, independent labels are left to respond
As the US continues to experience one of its hottest summers ever, vinyl records are among the products being affected by the extreme weather.
Customers across the country have been reporting damages to records they have ordered, which have become warped by the heat in the post.

The effect of the adverse weather on delivered goods is particularly felt by independent labels, who work with smaller pressing numbers and are left to determine a solution for themselves.
Ba Da Bing, an independent label based in Brooklyn, has sent customers an email to acknowledge the issue, offering them alternative options including a delay in shipping until the heatwave passes or delivery via the US Postal Service's Media Mail, which can take up to two weeks to arrive.

Meanwhile, other US labels are offering advance notice to customers, informing them of the threat the current weather forecast poses to the quality of their purchases.
Online sales platform Hello Merch, who several labels work with, has said that it does not take responsibility for items damaged during the shipping process, including by extreme weather conditions.
