Tyler, The Creator breaks vinyl sales record with 'Call Me If You Get Lost'

Tyler, The Creator has just broken the record for most vinyl sales in a week for a rap album since Luminate began tracking sales statistics in 1991.

This comes as he posted a purchase link and photograph on April 6 about his 2021 album 'Call Me If You Get Lost' getting released on vinyl.

Billboard reports that 49,500 copies of the vinyl record were bought through Tyler's webstore, a number which resulted in the rapper scoring number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

This is the largest sales week for a hip hop album since sales statistics were tracked. It’s also the largest vinyl sales week for an album by a solo male artist since 1991.

Previously, Kid Cudi held the hip hop vinyl record, selling 41,500 records of 'Man on the Moon III: The Chosen' in December 2021.

Stereogum reports that Tyler's album is the fourth to go back up to number 1 overall after being released on vinyl, others include Taylor Swift’s ‘Evermore’ and ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’, and Olivia Rodrigo‘s ‘Sour’.

According to data from the Recording Industry Association of America, 2021 revenues increased 61% from 2020 to $1 billion. The last time this was seen was in 1986.
