The Supermen Lovers releases fourth studio album, ‘Body Double’
It comes as the producer celebrates 20 years of hit ‘Starlight’
French electronic artist The Supermen Lovers - real name Guillaume Atlan - has released his fourth studio album, ‘Body Double’.
Just over 20 years since the release of his hit ‘Starlight’ - one of the originators of the French Touch sound - the album straddles two musical bodies, with the heart laying within vocal electro-disco and hypnotic club sounds.
Alongside this, the mix of analogue and digital sounds are not forgotten, reinforcing Atlan’s status as not only a producer and DJ, but a multi-instrumentalist too.

“‘Body Double’ is my fourth studio album and the consequences of two years I lived in Kyiv between 2018 and 2019,” Atlan tells Mixmag. “I have met some great artists there and shared some unexpected and new emotions that have inspired me a lot everytime I came back to Paris to compose. Kyiv is a world of paradox without borders and I have learned a lot about myself.
“By mixing analog machines and digital plugs, pop songs and underground tracks, I gave birth to ‘Body Double’”.
The album itself forms a story across 12 songs - or, as dubbed by the artist, ‘acts’. The first half kicks off with disco and classic funk melodies, before shifting to more emotive tracks and vocal cuts, with club banger to boot. The second half of the track kicks off with a take on the Brit Pop sound, before tunes incorporating nostalgic 90s synths and more warmer, disco-infused sounds draw the body of work to a close.
