Sports Banger is giving a Glastonbury DJ set to a key worker

The selected key worker will play a set at the Shangri-La Glastonbury opening ceremony alongside the likes of Jay Carder and Denham Audio

Sports Banger have announced a DJ slot available for a key worker, with one lucky selector getting the chance to play a set at the crew's Glastonbury takeover.

The DIY fashion, pop culture and rave brand announced the opportunity via a post on instagram, with a call out for nurses, teachers, young carers, junior doctors, food bank volunteers, youth workers or other essential workers, as a chance to say "thank you".

Entrees to the competition need to submit a mix to hello@sportsbanger.com as well as “a few words” describing themselves before June 7, to be in with a chance of playing at Sports Banger’s Opening ceremony for the Shangri-La Glastonbury stage.

They announced the opportunity via a post on Instagram, saying, "You got til June 7th to send us a mix. We’ll pick someone to DJ with us at @glastofest @shangrilaglasto Must be available Thursday 27th June 4pm - 10pm. When you email the mix write a few words too."

Johnny Banger, the man behind Sports Banger has said of the opportunity, "We’ve had a couple of NHS workers and a teacher join us previously to DJ with the headliners on our line-up. We attempt to deal with genuine social issues in an earnest, questioning manner (we don’t have the answers)."

He continued, "People ask if I'm scared of them fucking it up. Let’s be honest it ain't that hard to DJ and fuck ups make the world go round. Every worker that has joined us smashed their set. It’s always a huge effort to pull this together with no budget. Thank you to the DJ’s, workers, ravers and our team. This is Mega Rave number 11."
