Scuffed Records introduce artist development scheme for women and non-binary electronic music producers
The scheme will offer advice, industry contacts and production lessons for five artists
UK-based record label Scuffed Recordings have announced an artist development scheme for women and gender non-conforming electronic music artists.
This is an attempt to rebalance the gender inequality in music production. The scheme will consist of a programme lasting six months for the first half of 2021 offering production lessons and industry advice for upcoming producers.
Applications will close on February 19.

The five successful producers chosen for the scheme will be given lessons in Ableton and Logic, and will learn from artists like Elkka (pictured), LCY, India Jordan and Roza Terenzi. Regular feedback from the Scuffed team will also be provided along with advice on putting together an artist bio and press pack, a subscription to the plugins platform Splice and a budget for production equipment.
Scuffed founders High Class Filter and Ian DPM have said, “Over the three years we’ve been running the label, we’ve seen first-hand the huge gender disparity in producers working in electronic music, and our artist development programme is our way of attempting to address this imbalance using the resources and industry knowledge available to us.”
