The vaccination rollout in the UK has been largely successful, with more than 50% of 18-29 year olds receiving their first vaccinations, Khan insisted that this must continue in order to minimise the risk surrounding re-opening.

‘What’s really important is for Londoners to be aware that this virus will be here for some time, so what we’ve got to try and do is mitigate [the risk.] That’s why it’s so important to get the jab.’ Khan said.

A new incentive is being offered in order to boost vaccine uptake, with Londoners who get vaccinated or booking a vaccination having the opportunity to enter a draw to win two tickets to the final of Euro 2020.

Despite this, Khan is still asking Londoners to remain cautious even after re-opening in order to keep the public safe and stop large outbreaks of the virus.
