R. Kelly released by police after posting $100,000 bail

R. Kelly was arrested on sexual abuse charges

R. Kelly has been released by police after paying $100,000 (£76,000) bail.

The r'n'b singer turned himself into Cook County police last Friday after being charged with 10 accounts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against four women, to which he pleaded not guilty on Monday. Three of the women were minors at the time of the alleged abuse.

Cook County Judge John Fitzgerald Lyke Jr. set R. Kelly's full bond at $1 million, with him required to pay 10 per cent of that to be freed from Cook County Jail before his trial begins.

R Kelly has had to surrender his passport and is not allowed contact with anyone under the age of 18. He is due to appear in court again on March 22.

Erykah Badu caused controversy in January after defending him during a concert in Chicago.
