Or:la and Amaliah drop new EP ‘Y2SLAY Edits’

Or:la and Amaliah have just dropped a new remix EP Y2SLAY Edits’ — featuring two 2003-released tracks from Beyoncé and Missy Elliott reverting them to hi-NRG reworks made for the club.

Proceeds from the record will be donated to the Black Trans Foundation.

Released on Amaliah’s label Borne Fruits, the two-track EP is made up of Or:la’s ‘Me, Myself and I’ Beyoncé club edit, and Amaliah’s rework of Missy’s ‘Pass That Dutch’ — which has now been renamed to ‘Throw That Dutch’.

‘Y2SLAY Edits’ was released on Friday, September 16, with all proceeds going towards Black Trans Foundation, a charity working toward the social advancement of Black trans people in the UK.

“Giddy up girlies,” the pair posted on Instagram last Friday. “Following the successful release of the label’s first compilation earlier this year, ‘Club Entry Vol. 1’ Borne Fruits presents Y2SLAY Edits.”

The remix package was made as an ode to the producer’s musical influences, per the post, and a “fond farewell to the summer of dreams”.

The EP’s artwork pictures the pair clad in ‘90s dress while Or:la sits on top of a horse. “For the artwork, the artists wanted to encapsulate the noughties in style and in essence,” reads the Instagram post.

Paying homage to the iconic album covers of ‘Renaissance’ and ‘Respect M.E.’, Or:la and Amaliah employed “our very own stallion cameo from horse, Pru”. It added: “Both are dripped in Y2K style tracksuits with blinged out accessories giving a spin on their take from the attitudes of Queen B and Missy.”
