No Bounds Festival cancels 2023 event, citing impact of the cost of living crisis

The sixth edition of No Bounds Festival, an independent annual event in Sheffield, has been cancelled, Resident Advisor reports.

The 2023 edition was due to go ahead from October 14 - 16 across 11 venues in the city. This year, Helena Hauff, Blawan, Nia Archives, Kode9, SHERELLE & I. JORDAN were all due to perform.

Speaking to Resident Advisor, the festival's creative director, Liam O'Shea, said the decision came after a difficult 12 months as No Bounds has been challenged by the cost of living crisis, less access to funding, and higher production costs.

"We've come to the very difficult decision that in order for No Bounds to survive as a festival, to stay true to our artistic vision and to continue to be able to support our wonderful No Bounds community, we must wait until 2024 before we deliver the next full edition," O’Shea said.

He added: "We know many of you will be sad to hear this news, and for those who already bought 2023 festival early birds we're especially sorry."

The festival was due to celebrate its sixth edition this year, first launched in 2017 in the heart of Sheffield. Organisers have said that they have plans to return again next year.

No Bounds have replaced the annual weekender with a smaller scale event across October 13 -14 at Hope Works. Featuring two “multi-room megaraves” across two days, the replacement event has fetched headline sets from X CLUB. And Special Request, with additional performances from the likes of Manami, Bluetoof b2b Stenny, and 96 Back b2b Lupini.
