Leeds' Newsam Park Festival forced to cancel due to "rising costs"

Newsam Park Festival was forced to postpone due to "rising costs", Leeds-based promoter MiNT has revealed in a statement.

The festival, which was originally meant to go ahead on Saturday (July 8) on Newsam Green Farm, Leeds, has now been postponed to 2024.

Newsam Park Festival made its debut in 2021, as one of the first mass events post-lockdown. The one-day, open air festival began with a weighty lineup including Folamour and Siragusa.

The following year saw the legendary Mall Grab, Chris Stussy, Chaos in the CBD and Jayda G take to the stage. The 2023 line-up had not yet been released at the time of cancellation, and the new date is yet to be announced.

A spokesperson for MiNT revealed that “We have taken the difficult decision to postpone the Newsam Park Festival until 2024. In an increasingly difficult festival landscape, with the rising cost of production and cost of living, not to mention the general state of the economy, we didn't want to pass these growing costs on to our attendees.”

He continued that, “As a company, we did the same with our project, MiNT Festival last year in order to take a step back, regroup and put more thought and effort into this years edition - which we are really excited for”

MiNT has been running acclaimed events throughout Leeds and nearby areas for the past decade. The brand had planned to debut Newsam Park festival on September 10 of 2022 at Newsam Green Farm, but decided to delay the event.

This year, MiNT’s namesake festival is set to take place from Saturday September 16 to Sunday September 17 at the original location.

“MiNT Festival 2023 will be an all-new boutique two-day offering across six intimate, limited-capacity stages for the first time ever, taking place on September Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 at Newsam Green Farm. Our aim is to do the same with Newsam Park Festival, bringing it back bigger and bolder for 2024.”
