Newly opened Dublin hotel seeks injunction against late-night venue over noise complaints
The Hoxton, which reopened in November after a four-year renovation, claims it has had to close 31 of its 129 rooms due to noise
A newly opened hotel in Dublin is seeking an injunction against a neighbouring late-night venue over alleged noise complaints from guests.
According to the Irish Times, The Hoxton Hotel - part of the Hoxton Hotels chain - is seeking a High Court injunction against its next-door neighbour, late-night restaurant and music venue Yamamori Izakaya.

Formerly the Central Hotel, the Hoxton Hotel reopened on November 20 following a lengthy refurbishment which started in 2022. The Hoxton claims that it has since been forced to close 31 of its 129 rooms due to noise levels on the adjoining walls.
Japanese-themed venue Yamamori Izakaya, which has been located on South Great George's Street since 1995, is currently permitted to open until 3:AM from Wednesdays to Saturdays, and 2:30AM on Sunday.
The Hoxton's filing, seen by the Irish Times, claims there has been “repeated and serious noise nuisance” from Yamamori Izakaya, which has resulted in negative reviews and the hotel having to issue refunds — combined with closing rooms, the hotel claims it will have lost €300,000 by the end of March.

Yamamori's owners have reportedly offered to install "tamper-proof sound-limiting devices" and arrange a meeting with the hotel and its "noise expert" - the Hoxton claims this meeting has not yet taken place.
Representatives for Yamamori also highlighted that The Hoxton should have installed sound-proofing in its rooms during its years-long renovation process.
A High Court judge has granted The Hoxton a "short service" temporary injunction against Yamamori, which under Irish law means the venue will be forced to respond to complaints quickly. According to the Irish Times, another hearing could be held as early as next week.
Mixmag has contacted representatives for Yamamori Izakaya for comment.
